PCMS offers Guardianship Services to individuals that have been adjudicated incapacitated by the court. Guardians are appointed by the court when an individual is no longer able to make sound decisions about his or her person or property. Professional Guardians are appointed by the court as a guardian of last resort when there are no other individuals such as family members that can act as the adjudicated individual’s guardian. An adjudicated individual is referred to as a ward at the time of their adjudication. Guardianship is a legal mechanism that is governed by Florida Law under Florida Statute 744 and all professional guardians are court-appointed. All guardians are accountable to the local probate court and are required to file the necessary legal reports on an annual basis regarding the ward. PCMS offers guardianship services in the following counties: Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach Counties, Hillsborough, Polk, Hardee, Highland, Pasco and Orange County.
